Colour Masterclass by Studio IJM

A few weeks ago I followed a Colour masterclass by Studio IJM in their atelier in Amsterdam. During the class we met Frank and Astrid who explained their working methods and kindly guided us through their Amsterdam Studio. Literally everywhere you look, there is colour inspiration and 'lost and found" items from their numerous projects.

The studio is packed with vintage & thrift shop items.

During the workshop we created a colour palette by composing a 3D setting within the theme "From here to somewhere else". For this assignment, we were let loose in the atelier, nosing around shelves and boxes full of anything and everything. A few hours and many suitcases, green socks, kitchen stepladders, and camping mugs later we had a composition from which to extract our own colour palette.

Frank and Astrid are known for their unique use of colours. In the IJM Colour lab a collection of colours are carefully devised and mixed. Have a look at their colour-spots for pure colour inspiration and beautiful styling!
